500,000 full and part time Walmart employees are due to receive a raise this month. The raise will bring the average earning of a Walmart Employee to approximately $1.75 higher than the federal minimum hourly wage.
According to Doug McMillion, CEO, Walmart hopes the pay increase will result in increased employee retention and improved customer service.
Walmart employees an excess of 1.3 million people in the US. Full time employees make an everage of $12.85 an hour, while part time employees average an hourly rate of $9.48. With the increase, these averages will be bumped to $13.00 per hour and $9.00 per hour.
