The “Residential Hydraulic Elevator” sold exclusively by Coastal Carolina Elevators has been recalled as it is now known that the elevator will operate while the gate door is open, posing a devastating crushing hazard.
The elevators have a manual accordion-style car gate door with vinyl laminate inserts and a control panel. So far three reports of incidents have been received, one a serious injury which resulted in a catastrophic brain injury of a 10-year-old boy from Baltimore, MD.
Free repairs are being offered to consumers who own one of these elevators.
